The company is certificated by the quality assurance system according to the CSN EN 9001:2001 standard.

The history of the company began in 1991 when the association of founders with experience in industrial automation and electronics was founded. The first project for SCE Decin led our interests towards long-distance monitoring of energy consumption.

In 1992 we transformed into a small business (ltd.). Portable measuring instrument Simon for low-, high- and very-high voltage distribution networks is firstly introduced. We already used the SMD technology in this product already.

Our portfolio extended gradually with multi-functional panel meters, HDO monitoring instruments, and many other universal devices. In 1999 the company developed and presented a new award-winning and innovative instrument - NOVAR power factor controller.

Since 2002 the company has progressively expanded to foreign markets in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Headcount and production capacities have grown. Nowadays we focus on R&D in emerging technologies for measuring and controlling the quality of electrical energy.

Recently we have innovated and complemented the PFC product lines to follow requirements of different markets. An important part of our product portfolio includes components for power factor correction - controllers, thyristor switches, and related software. In cooperation with Technical University in Liberec, we also assure research capabilities and innovative approach to our customers. The cooperation brings a unique product line for MV transformers - the AFR and LV solution for soft starting TrafoSTART. In 2009 we have introduced a new line of power quality analyzers for three-phase voltage networks SMP/SMPQ.

In 2012 and 2013, we've introduced new highly accurate meters and analyzers for DIN rail mounting - the SMC 144 and PA 144, followed by compact panel instrument SMY 133 with color LCD screen. On a similar basis in 2013 arises a new three-phase NOVAR 26 and then also our high-end class A power quality analyzer and class 0.2S meter ARTIQ 144.

In the years 2015-2017, we've successfully solved a research project in a field of DC measurement, supported by grant TH01020327 - Modular system for complex monitoring and management designed for DC and hybrid AC / DC smart grids. With its contribution in these years, we also focused our research and development towards an increase in modularity and flexibility in our future products.

Lately, we are expanding our portfolio of high-level meters, analyzers, and control units with new communication options and we open our systems and data to the standard solutions, which are commonly used worldwide. In the modular system, now connected with a local bus, we have introduced several new modules for even more compact and cost-effective feeder measurement, flexible IO control module, and several data acquisition and remote communication solutions.

Aim of the project was to develop a complex solution providing measurement, monitoring and management in DC and hybrid AC/DC power grids in a form of a robust modular device contributing to the development of modern power grids. Instruments developed under this project included features and functionality of an electricity meter, analyzer and monitor of power and voltage quality in hybrid AC and/or DC systems. Modular concept simplified integration of other process variables and control resources of local system. In context of the project aim, the implemented device enabled high degree of modularity on HW, FW and also SW level. Key results of the project are the 2017V010 - Software for modular measurement system and 2017V003 prototype of the modular measurement system.

Main activity of the project is to provide our partners an appropriate solution in the area of power management in industrial environments. The aim of the project is to develop a prototype of a compact and inexpensive static switching module for real-time reactive power correction, thoroughly test it according to valid standards, to determine its technical parameters in a range of operating conditions and to prepare it for efficient automated production. At the same time the related controller unit will be upgraded so that it can efficiently manage a large number of real-time outputs and to record and aggregate larger volumes of process data for supervision systems (grid, building or industrial automation).

Aim of the project is a development of the complete system for location of asymmetric faults in medium voltage networks (V-dip system). The system utilizes distributed measuring units (DMU) installed on the secondary side of distribution transformers. It is designed to allow autonomous fault localization while respecting the current configuration and topology of the distribution network. The resulting V-dip feature will be linked to dispatching systems to ensure quick and accurate localization of an earth fault. Distributed measuring units will be additionally equipped with a Class A power quality analyzer module and with optional signal analysis up to 9 kHz to offer additional functions to increase the benefits of the V-dip system. Verification of the system will be carried out on the basis of a pilot project.

In 2016, we received a grant from the Liberec county under the Program 2.2. Regional innovation program for the project 'Innovation of key ENVIS software for enhancing the utility of energy and network quality monitoring systems'. Project was delivered with the Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT).

In 2018 we received a grant from the Liberec county under the program 2.2. Regional innovation program for the project 'Methods of evaluation of network interference in the band from 2 to 150 kHz'. Project was delivered through cooperation with Technical University in Liberec (TUL).

In 2019 we received a grant from the Liberec Region under the program 2.2. Regional innovation program for project 'Utilizing advanced methods of statistical data analysis to compress the database of electricity quality measurement and for easier evaluation by the user'. Project was delivered through cooperation with Technical University in Liberec (TUL).

Energy Management

We cover all it needs to address energy management challenges from a simple low-cost panel meter for standard cabinets through a more complex building or industrial energy automation systems up to the high-end energy and power quality monitoring in harsh smart grid environments. We also develop special meters for DC grids and hybrid AC/DC applications - in distributed generation, data centers, telco, energy storage, transportation etc. The SIMON portable data-loggers are excellent yet affordable tools for temporal power quality and energy management campaigns.

Precise data from our analyzers serve key role in various ISO 50001 energy management systems.

Power Quality

We cover all its needs from a simple low-cost panel meter for building management to the high-end power quality analyzers for demanding smart grid applications. We also develop special meters for DC grids and hybrid AC/DC applications - in distributed generation, data centers, telco, energy storage, transportation etc. The SIMON portable data-loggers are excellent yet affordable tools for temporal power quality and energy management campaigns.

To analyze data in full details all instruments do support the ENVIS application. Remote communications for integration in other automation systems is also available.

Power Factor Correction Relays

NOVAR presents a complete product line of automatic power factor controllers. It is reliable, efficient, fully automatic, precise and easy to install and maintain. In our portfolio we offer basic controllers for budgetary applications, classical controllers with broad range of communication options and also a high-end three-phase controllers with graphical displays and optional data-logging functions.

Special real-time power factor controller NOVAR 1312 supports thyristor switched compensation with KATKA switches.

Software & Data management

ENVIS application is the corner stone of our software solutions for desktop with file and database back-ends for data storage. This application can import and export data into many common standards including PQDIF, CSV, XLS etc. Additionally we also offer open access to the data through libraries (for .NET core or C/C++) and command line tools which can be used for easy adoption by 3rd party software developers for an easy integration of our data.

ENVIS.Online system service can manage given set of instruments on the background automatically without need of user interactions. It can obtain, analyze and report the data automatically.

Our products are useful to monitor and control energy efficiency (such as for ISO 50001) in machines, buildings and grids. It implements automated energy systems and drives advanced power factor control cabinets We also provide solutions to monitor and solve various power quality issues.
